Linux 要快速找到檔案在哪, 除了 find 外, 另一個更好的選擇就是 locate.
假設要找 php.ini 在哪裡, find 指令如下:
find / -name php.ini
可能要跑個 1分鐘, 用 locate 是直接就列出來, 指令也簡單許多:
locate php.ini
因為 locate 是直接查詢 index 檔, 所以速度就會快很多~
於 Debian 只要: apt-get install locate 即可, 另一個 mlocate 好像也不錯. :P
如果新的檔案剛建立, locate 找不到的話, 執行 sudo updatedb 再找找看, 應該就找的到了~ :)

中国话以后是否会成为国际语言！普通话是否会替代英语？
答小林：
以目前的形势发展下去，中文会成为国际语言可以肯定，今天起大约需要二十年吧。然而，要中文替代英语则不可能。英文是一种非常好的语言，很多国家采用，而差不多所有重要的学术论著，皆用英语或有英译本。今天的同学及可见的将来，不学好英语是愚蠢了。我认为普通话用拼音是个问题，因为惯用拼音的，英语发音容易弄得一团糟。二十年前我就这样说，但没有人听话。今天，好些中国大学的研究生懂英文，看得明，写得出，但读不成音，很头痛。
中文也是一种了不起的语言，今天可以容易地在电脑打字，如虎添翼矣。中文有一处非常优越：容易学，比英语容易得多。但中文不容易写得好，不容易写得到家！中文容易学是因为字汇少，也不需要学文法；不容易写得好是因为要懂得砌字。这是说，要真的懂得砌字，懂得砌平仄及长短句，古文与古诗词的根底很重要。不从背诵古文起家的人，中文是不容易写得好的。另一方面，要成为国际语言，足以应酬的，不需要写得那么好。西洋鬼子今天教儿童学中文的无数，孩子长大后会学得足以应酬，但要懂得砌字，砌得有我这个老人家的水平，就不容易了。
目前西方对中文教师的需求很大，北京要考虑与西方大量交换学生。

深耕FLASH多年的老蒋，从去年开始转向现代艺术创作。先是创作了以崔健为原型的大型雕塑《红先生》，又画了以红先生为题材的油画–《When you believe》。去年圣诞，他携这幅画到柏林参展，把这幅画立在柏林墙旧址上，德国城管知道中国来的小贩不好惹，居然没有干涉。
在他的BLOG中，他说：
当初柏林人一激动，把柏林墙推的一点不剩，到柏林墙博物馆只好参观墙址了，一般不会有游客躺着跟墙址拍照留念，所以旅游者的相机到这里基本没有用场。现在多了个红先生，至少留个纪念照方便了。
这是红先生的原画，画的名字叫–《当你相信的时候》。
今天要隆重介绍的不是他的雕塑和油画，而是他刚刚推出的FLASH《红先生系列之二：解决》。艺术作品是自洽的，不需要罗里罗嗦地评注，大家还是自己去看吧。
股指期货快变成了故事期货了，期货概念的个股凉了又热、热了又凉。到底什么时候能出台，出台以后会怎么样？手里拿着沪深300权重股的人，没法不操心。
（二）创业板
002中小板热了有半年了，其实，所谓最早的创业版概念从2000年就开始忽悠了。中小板开通是对股民是机遇还是资金的分流，一切都不太可知。不过，古今中外，中小板概念往往落实在TMT概念上，这对IT人士应该算是一种利好。不过，需要摘掉有色眼镜，一旦创业板推出，应该相信人有多大胆，地有多大产。
（三）货币政策
CPI居高不落，不管政府如何信誓旦旦，我总是心存怀疑。所以，从紧的货币政策在2008年应该没有悬念，但是从紧的货币政策到底有多紧，开个玩笑，可能要问问赵忠祥老师。所谓从紧的货币政策，手段无非是加息和提高存款准备金率，个人判断，这两个调控的手段有限。除非。。。
（四）奥运会
奥运概念是不是保险箱，我不好说。但个人以为，奥运绝不会是中国经济的高点。以我有限的全球眼光和观察，我相信奥运绝不会是中国经济的高点，以中长期的观点来看，奥运会应该是中国经济起飞的加油站。奥运会肯定会把中国全方位进一步的推向全球，联系到2010年的上海世博会，中国经济尤其是上市公司进一步全球化一定会成为必然。中国的金融企业已经开始境外抄底了，未来交叉持股、东西呼应、共同繁荣可期。当然，时间上可能不只一两年，但三五年来说，只要不打仗，就是保险箱。
（五）两会
这也是中国独特的政治市。个人观点它不会影响长期趋势，但对2008年的股市节奏可能有比较大的影响。
（六）汇率
汇率变化，尤其是人民币兑美元的汇率变化，决定了2007年以来这波行情的主心骨。这是从股市虚拟经济看，如果换一个角度，汇率变化也深刻的影响实体经济。汇率变化的核心对股市来说，决定了金融地产的股价，从实体经济来看，决定了贸易顺差是否继续和扩大，中国经济的全球竞争力是否能够延续。悬念在于，人民币升值压力巨大。尽管人民币兑美元升值已经很快，但相对于其他外币针对美元的升值，人民币的升值的增幅仍然远远落后。但人民币继续升值，不仅导致境外资金涌入中国市场，也将降低中国经济的竞争力。这个难题实实在在的考验中国经济掌舵人的智慧。
（七）大小非解禁
2007年是大小非解禁的高潮，但实际上，大小非卖出的似乎没多少。主要原因无非是两点，大非减持有国有资产控股的问题，小非解禁不太甘心，核心是对未来股价还有期望。但无论如何，A股流通市值只占全市值的三分之一，一旦大小非开始大量出货（加上2008年进一步解禁的参与），对改变短期供求关系有非常大的影响。
（八）外资上市
这是一个存疑。QFII300亿美金的额度还没用完，PE、投行投资A股上市公司的审核还在模棱两可，已经有人在谈外资企业发行A股的问题。个人觉得2008年希望不大，但既然有人在说，姑且列上凑足八条。
总而言之，言而总之，既然拥有那么多不确定性，注定2008年股市的变化比2006年和2007年要复杂。因此，波段操作是重点，没有90%的把握，任何时候都不要满仓操作。设定合理的收益率，高抛低吸，快进快出，可能是获得最大化收益的王道。没有伯乐的眼光不可怕，不能随波如流认清大势更可怕。

Tonight when Iowans gather in living rooms and high school gyms to take the first step in selecting our U.S. Presidential nominees, Google and YouTube will give you a front row seat.
We're working together with local Iowan media organizations and political parties to bring you real time results and citizen-generated videos from the caucuses –- an up-close and personal perspective in the process to elect the next President.
Iowa caucus goers and out-of-state political pundits alike can upload videos of the Iowa Caucus to YouTube, giving you a direct view into this vibrant political scene. These Iowa Caucus videos can be found at the Des Moines Register's YouTube Channel and span a variety of perspectives from predictions and personal reflections to interviews and candidate analysis.
And starting tonight (approx. 8-10 pm CST), you can use Google Maps to view real-time caucus results by county. The political parties in Iowa will be working with us to publish these results to our Iowa Caucus map as soon as they come in, so that everyone can access results online when Iowans finish caucusing.

Back in August I started getting an itch to try something new. Something really new, something completely unrelated to computers (which have been my passion for almost 20 years now). Somehow (I don’t recall the details) I stumbled across whittling and woodcarving, and I’ve discovered that I really enjoy it.
I started by picking up a book or two on whittling from the library, and learned the basics of carving “whimseys” (interesting projects without a practical application, like chains or a ball-in-cage). I’ve since carved a few of them, and several decorative spoons, but I’m still exploring the domain. It’s almost like learning to read, or to program computers, where an entire world appears that you never knew existed. There’s so much to discover!
After quite a bit of research, I purchased my first big power tool, a bandsaw (a Grizzly G0555), and I’ve been very pleased with it. My first Welsh love spoon (here) was done without a bandsaw, and although I learned a lot from the process, I also learned that I’d rather focus on carving the piece, than outlining it.
Aside from the bandsaw and a simple electric drill, my tools are all hand tools. I use a Flexcut detail knife (which I absolutely love) for most of the work, and resort to some inexpensive chisels and gouges (that I picked up at Michael’s) for things like carving the bowl of a spoon, or feathers. (Eventually, I’d like to pick up a beginner’s set of real chisels and gouges, so that I can experiment with relief carving.) Also, I picked up a woodcarver’s saftey glove shortly after carving a big slice of my hand on accident.
So far, I’ve only carved basswood (a very cooperative hardwood, perfect for novice woodcarvers), but I’m starting to eye some of the harder woods, like cherry, walnut, and oak. I’ve also started learning about wood toxicity (scary!) so I’m being very picky in the woods I’ll carve!
Ultimately, there is something extremely satisfying in taking a plain block of wood and shaping it with your hands into something remarkable. The entire process is incredibly therapeutic and meditative. As I carve, or sand, I find myself pondering parallels between woodcarving and just about everything else. It’s a great time to slow down and reflect, something that I haven’t been very good at in general.
For the curious, I’ve got my current gallery available as a public Backpack page: Woodcarving by Jamis Buck. I’ve also got a YouTube video of me carving a small spoon, in fast-forward: Carving a decorative spoon. Just keep in mind that I’m still new to this art, and be gentle!

Having this real-time interaction also creates a great opportunity to talk to visitors that might be ‘on the fence’ about signing up. Once they get to see the team in there and we can address any questions they might have, they are very likely to have a greater comfort level about becoming a Geezeo user.

This review of two recent diet books underscores what most of us already know all too well: while it’s easy enough to drop a few pounds for a short while, it’s nearly impossible to lose a lot of weight for a long time.
What caught my attention for anyone wishing to apply some fancy book-learning directly to the affected area was this chunk of insight on eating mindfully — alongside a smart bit of life-hacky weight loss advice:
Wansink’s overarching point is that, when it comes to food, we’re not paying attention. “It takes up to 20 minutes for our body and brain to signal satiation,” he notes, and Americans often finish their meals in less time than that. Instead of internal signals we rely on external cues to tell us when we’re done: Is the plate clean? Is everyone else done? Is there more in the serving dish?
To counteract such cues, Wansink recommends such tactics as using smaller plates (which make portions seem larger), keeping serving dishes in the kitchen (which discourages second helpings), replacing short, wide glasses with tall, thin ones (which make drinks seem bigger), keeping food scraps and bones on your plate (which reminds you how much you’ve eaten), and dividing snacks from big packages into smaller bags or plastic containers (which discourages you from devouring the entire package).
I’m also a big-fan of guesstimating portion with real-world objects. Although, candidly, the last time I ate beef, it was less like a deck of cards and more like the whole blackjack shoe.

思科上市后，两个创始人马上成了亿万富翁。思科今天的股价，是上市时的500倍。它早期的员工，只要在理财上不要太冒险，比如在互联网泡沫时代买了很多网络垃圾股（当时叫网络概念股），也成了千万富翁或者百万富翁。这些人在富有了以后很多会选择离开公司去创业或者干脆退休。事实上，思科的两个创始人自己已经选择了这条路，离开了公司。
一个成功的公司的早期员工是非常宝贵的财富。他们一般是一些非常爱冒险的人，否则他们不会选择加入新开办的甚至是还没有投资的小公司，他们技术和能力非常强，常常每个人可以独挡一面，因为早期的公司要求员工什么都得能干。他们同时对新技术非常敏感，否则他们在众多新兴公司中就不会挑选中那些日后成功的。但是，他们也有他们的弱点。他们虽然善于开创，但不善于或者不愿意守成，而后者对于一个大公司发展至关重要。他们做事快，但是不够精细，因为在公司很小时，抢时间比什么都重要。因此在公司发展到一定阶段，他们会和新的管理层发生冲突 —— 新的主管会觉得他们不好管。这就如同打江山的人未必能治理江山。这些员工很可能自己出去开公司。而即使留在公司的这些早期员工已经腰缠万贯，原先的动力也要大打折扣。因此，如何留住早期员工，并且调动他们的积极性，便成为了每一个上市的科技公司的难题。
另外，一个公司大到一定程度后，每个人的贡献就不容易体现出来，大锅饭现象几乎是全世界的通病。一些员工虽然有很好的想法，也懒得费功夫去推动它，因为自己多花几倍的时间和精力最多能多得百分之几的奖金。偶尔出来一两个人试图推动一下，又会发现在大公司里阻力很大。因此，有些员工一旦有了好的想法，宁可自己出来创业，也不愿贡献给自己的公司。这两个问题在硅谷普遍存在，而思科是这些问题解决得最好的公司。

思科上市后，两个创始人马上成了亿万富翁。思科今天的股价，是上市时的500倍。它早期的员工，只要在理财上不要太冒险，比如在互联网泡沫时代买了很多网络垃圾股（当时叫网络概念股），也成了千万富翁或者百万富翁。这些人在富有了以后很多会选择离开公司去创业或者干脆退休。事实上，思科的两个创始人自己已经选择了这条路，离开了公司。
一个成功的公司的早期员工是非常宝贵的财富。他们一般是一些非常爱冒险的人，否则他们不会选择加入新开办的甚至是还没有投资的小公司，他们技术和能力非常强，常常每个人可以独挡一面，因为早期的公司要求员工什么都得能干。他们同时对新技术非常敏感，否则他们在众多新兴公司中就不会挑选中那些日后成功的。但是，他们也有他们的弱点。他们虽然善于开创，但不善于或者不愿意守成，而后者对于一个大公司发展至关重要。他们做事快，但是不够精细，因为在公司很小时，抢时间比什么都重要。因此在公司发展到一定阶段，他们会和新的管理层发生冲突 —— 新的主管会觉得他们不好管。这就如同打江山的人未必能治理江山。这些员工很可能自己出去开公司。而即使留在公司的这些早期员工已经腰缠万贯，原先的动力也要大打折扣。因此，如何留住早期员工，并且调动他们的积极性，便成为了每一个上市的科技公司的难题。

"While there's no magic formula to determine how much revenue you'll receive based on a certain amount of traffic, it helps to be realistic about your earning potential. For example, for every thousand page impressions you receive, you might earn anywhere from $0.05 to $5.00." A 2006 article from Business 2.0 Magazine partially agrees to this: "CPM rates on Google AdSense and competing automated systems are estimated at anywhere from 50 cents to a few bucks."
Google also talks about the magical high paying ads: "while it's nice to receive higher paying ads, keep in mind that higher paying ads may be aimed at a smaller target audience and therefore generate less interest and ultimately fewer clicks." Google says that "for a larger site, 1% might be considered a decent clickthrough rate".
Google AdSense's TOS doesn't allow you to reveal the clickthrough rates for your sites and, by default, Google displays stats at the page level. So instead of seeing the average CTR and CPM for an ad unit, Google will show the average numbers for a web page. To see the real numbers, you need to go to advanced reports and select "show data by ad unit". Note that Google doesn't break down the data by domain or subdomain, so you need to create URL channels for each of your site. You can create up to 200 URL channels and they start tracking data only after you add them.
Google AdSense makes it difficult to find key information about ads and it doesn't separate the performance by ad block type, domain, referral etc. At some point, a post from Google Analytics blog suggested a possible integration with AdSense, but the current level of openness is not encouraging.
在Maui的第一天，天气不错。冬天的夏威夷，气温大概在摄氏20-25度之间，风略大，很舒适。立即卸去冬装，换上夏装。
如前文所述，一早起来先去机场取了车，然后又取了迟到的行李，然看正式开始我们的夏威夷之旅。
可惜，第一步不是真正的游玩，而是补充物资。机场附近不远，就有shopping的地方，而且Maui岛上的唯一一家Costco就在机场附近。我们就开车到Costco所在的shopping center，去Costco和Kmart补充物资，买了一些瓶装水和小点心之类的，和一些在夏威夷游玩的重要物品，这里列出来，给大家提个醒:
- 防晒霜。这个是必不可少的，多多益善。
- 驱蚊虫的喷雾(insect repellents)，这也是必不可少。不然就是上夏威夷献血来了。
- 浮浅装备(Snorkeling Gear)。这个岛上有不少地方可以租 (租金也挺低)，但是在Kmart或者ABC Store购买并不贵。我们只买了带管子的面具(Mask)。你要是打算花很多时间Snorkeling和玩水的话，可以再买或者租一对蹼(Fins)。另外还有其他一些东西，比如Wet suits，可以让你在水里呆着不那么冷。还有一些安全设备，比如floater之类的。
- 水下相机。几块钱一个。
在Costco里还看到一些夏威夷特产，比如夏威夷的Hawaii Lua Nuts （某种当地产干果），可以考虑回去之前买些。另外还有一些其他地方不容易买到的热带水果，比如红毛丹(Rambutan)，原来在国内超市见过，在美国好像还是第一次见到。可以买点尝尝，味道和口感，与荔枝差不多。
好了，物资齐全，开始逛吧。第一天，没啥计划。就先随便逛逛，由着GPS带着我们转。机场出来附近的路上（还没看到海滩），立马让我想起来前年去的西双版纳或者电影院看的东南亚风光，颇亲切。
我们第一站到了一个非典型夏威夷景点，叫做Iao Valley，是个小峡谷。最显著的景点就是下图的Iao Needle。（注:如前文所说，这次游记景点的照片我会从flickr或者其他地方引用）。
那个凸出的小山头，就是Needle了，是火山岩形成的，但是现在表面已经长满了植被，郁郁葱葱的。据说Iao valley是个多雨的地方，幸好我们每赶上。山谷里有几天小溪和一些较短的hiking trail。据说在古代夏威夷，这里是埋葬部落首领的地方。在十八世纪，这里发生过一场重要战争，夏威夷史上最伟大的君王Kamehameha，在这里击败了当时Maui的君王，从而将Maui岛统一进了自己的版图。据说当年的这场战争异常血腥，真正达到了血流成河的地步。这里还有一个不大有意思的花园。
离开Iao valley，我们继续往南开，道路两旁，一侧是开阔的Haleakala山脚，错落这房屋，一侧是农田。没多久，GPS显示我们到了Maui Tropical Plantation。一个热带植物园。如果你曾经去过西双版纳，并去过西双版纳的植物园，那么一般的热带植物园都不再有必要参观了。我们就进去瞅了一眼，这个植物园有一个坐游览车的小tour，大概40分钟左右，一个人$11钱。我们到的时候，一个tour正好出发走了。一个导游凑过来，问我们有没有兴趣走下一趟。我们本来就不太感兴趣，显得很犹豫。不知为何，他就免费给了我们两张票，7天内可用，让我们有时间了再来。:)
我们收好这份免费礼离开了植物园，继续往南开。开着开着，就渐渐接到了Maui的南部，叫做Kehei的地方。我们的Hotel也在这里。这时候，大海出现在了路边，沙滩一个接着一个。我们见到路边一个还不错的沙滩，就迫不及待的停下车来，往沙滩奔去。真是开到哪里玩到哪里了。直到我写这篇游记的时候，查询了一番，在知道这个Beach应该是叫做Maipoina OE IAU beach。不算是Maui特别知名的beach。但是这是我们在夏威夷第一个停留的Beach。这个Beach挺大，而且人少。
蓝天，白云，海滩，椰子树，以及远处的Haleakala，还是让我们开心不已。在海滩上拍拍照，晃荡了一通，我们决定先去Hotel check-in再回来。
上车之后，发现hotel很巧得l就与这海滩一街之隔。Check-in之后，拿上沙滩巾，换上更热带的装束，狂涂一番防晒霜，又奔同一片海滩去了，但是这次我们跑了了海滩教隐蔽的一个湾里。发现闲置着两种沙滩椅，于是占领之。然后跑到海水里嬉戏一番，竟然被我发现透明的很小的一只水母从我们旁边游过。这时候，大概下午4点左右了，太阳开始西落。昨晚没有睡太好，我们就很休闲得躺在了沙滩椅上。领导开始读机场买的小说，我则开始研读Maui Revealed。读了一会儿，我们又沿着沙滩走了个来回。然后再日落之际回到Hotel。再出门寻觅晚饭。跑到了大概Kehei这个小城最热闹的街道。吃了个饭，转了转小店。发现夏威夷的这种地方，店门口都点着真的火把，挺有趣。
夏威夷的颇为休闲的第一日，到这里就结束了。而第二天，我们就要奔传说中的Road to Hana去了!
